Travel to Turrialba and Sarapiqui regions and select from a carefully curated list of activities that will include hiking, rafting, nature walks, birdwatching, mountain biking, canyoning, and cultural immersion experiences.
Visit two universities in Costa Rica and meet with many local outdoor recreation and tourism providers.
Immerse yourself in a foreign context to make new connections and think differently about your personal and professional journey.
This event will offer many engaging experiences across two of Costa Rica’s main outdoor recreation destinations. Five full days of adventure, networking, and professional and personal exploration will be topped off with Costa Rica’s International Outdoor Recreation Summit in the nation’s capital, San Jose.
Why Is This Happening?
The 2023 Global University Experience seeks to cultivate and facilitate a collaborative working environment for AORE professionals with an emphasis on engaging organizational teams in professional networking, program evaluation, organizational development, and strategic planning.
Costa Rica was selected as an opportune setting to learn about outdoor recreation given the rich history of adventure travel, tourism, and environmental stewardship, along with its ongoing challenges in outdoor etiquette, valuing personal recreation, and quality of life among outdoor professionals. In this ideal setting to indulge in diverse outdoor activities, we have designed the event to encourage knowledge and skills exchange with the context of developing participants’ understanding of the field and ability to excel in their careers.

Save $125 On Registration When You Register By March 1st!
Payments: We want to make it as easy as possible for you to join this Global University Experience. That’s why we’re initially asking for only a $200 deposit on your registration by March 1st. There will be additional payments arranged once we receive your deposit. These will be for $300 in mid-April and the final payment* in mid-May (the week prior to traveling to Costa Rica!).
Selection of Activities: After you have submitted your initial payment, we will contact you to help you select the activities you wish to experience in both Turrialba and Sarapiqui.
*Total cost of this Global University Experience will vary from $1,575 to $2,050 depending on when you register, the number and type of activities that you choose to participate in, and whether or not you are an AORE member.
The estimated expenses do not include airfare, gratuities, beverages, incidentals, and other items noted on AORE's website.
